Don’s Dynamite – The Advent of the Suuuuuuuuuuuper Hero!

The Advent of the Suuuuuuuuuuuper Hero!

Those of us fortunate enough to live in Hervey Bay must be blessed.

We live in a city based on the letter ‘S’. Sun, Sand, sorta-Surf and the Suuuuuuuuuuuuper Hero.

Over the last year or two the manifestations of the letter ‘S’ have been many and varied but those emanating from the ranks of our city fathers, yes our local councillors, prove the wisdom of the ratepayers in electing such a talented group.

First off the rank was ‘Man of Steel’, yes councillor George Seymour. MOS has a proven track record when it comes to making his presence felt. Able to slew dragons and other unsavoury types with a single blow, when he can be found, MOS was our first identified Super Hero.

Then there was ‘Vernon Verbose’, yes councillor David Lewis. VB has an armoury the envy of any super hero. VB can comatose even his most strident opponent with just words, words and yet more words. Not everyone has the ability, like VB, to be able to say good morning in not less than 300 words.

VB has been a force for good on Council – his sage observations imbue us all (including his fellow councillors) with strength and determination even if we are all a little older by the time the lesson ends.

Dynamite is proud to be able to identify the next super hero. Yes and you guessed it. Straight from the ranks of our city fathers comes ‘Wonder Boy’. Cr Stu Taylor has made the grade. Congratulations Cr Stu. Readers of Dynamite will recall that Cr Stu made his presence felt earlier as Captain Stubing. Now he has morphed into Wonder Boy.

WB attains Super Hero status for his strength and determination in persisting with his novel approach to local governance – yes you’ve got it ‘the old I’ll take my bat and ball home’ if you don’t see things my way.

Well WB earned a rebuke from councillor Light as reported in that staunch defender of the right to sell advertising pretending to be news [Fraser Coast Chronicle 04/03/17]. Councillor Light called on WB to step down following an on-going spat by WB relating to non-attendance at meetings etc.

So where will our next super hero come from? Will it be another of our city fathers or even a local developer who wants to soar like an eagle.

Only time will tell so stay tuned.
